The 2002-03 School Year Tuition
Rates
* Tuition only covers 65% of actual cost per
student (78% for private students.) The remaining amount is
subsidized by the generous support of our alumni, parents, and friends to the
Annual Fund. To be eligible for the parish-supported rate, families must be
registered members of a Catholic parish. C-J’s
Commitment to Affordability
C-J is committed to offering our
value-centered Catholic education at a rate of tuition that is reasonable and
within reach of most families. For families who cannot afford tuition, C-J has
a strong tuition assistance program. Tuition assistance is made available
through the generosity of C-J’s alumni and friends. C-J’s Tuition Assistance Endowment Fund and other resources have
enabled C-J to distribute $424,000 to 340 students (more than 1/3 of the
student body) for the 2001-02 school year. Typically, grants range from $500 to
$2,700 with the average being $1,250. How
is Tuition Assistance
distributed at C-J?
C-J’s tuition assistance
committee has again selected Private School Aid Services (PSAS) to
process tuition assistance applications for the 2002-03 school year. To apply
for tuition assistance, families must complete a tuition assistance application
form, which must be returned directly to PSAS by March 1, 2002. (This is
a strict deadline. Do not submit late
applications to PSAS. After March 1, please contact C-J’s Business Office with
inquiries about tuition assistance.
Failure to submit the completed application to PSAS by March 1 will
result in either no aid or a greatly reduced aid package.) It
is important to note that PSAS does not
provide tuition assistance. Rather, the company simply compiles information
that allows C-J’s financial assistance committee to make fair decisions in
distributing aid. PSAS charges an application fee of $14. Almost
all tuition assistance received by C-J families comes from the school’s
endowment funds. A small committee of
C-J staff determines who gets financial aid.
The committee looks primarily at economic need (as measured by PSAS.) But the committee also takes into
consideration subjective factors such as your commitment to Catholic education,
your child’s effort in and commitment to school, and your family’s involvement
at school and payment history. The tuition assistance committee strongly
encourages all low- and middle- income families to apply for aid each year. Financial
assistance awards are announced in the spring.
If the family determines that the tuition assistance package is not
enough, C-J will refund the registration deposit if you notify us of your
decision by June 3, 2002. Merit
Scholarships While a limited number of merit-based
scholarships are available for returning sophomore, juniors and seniors, Chaminade-Julienne does not
offer any academic scholarships to incoming students. C-J
does not offer athletic scholarships. Fees Discounts If three students
from the same family are enrolled at the same time, the family will receive a
50% discount on the third tuition. If
four or more students are enrolled at one time you will receive a 50% discount
on the third tuition and a 75% discount on any number that exceeds three. C-J recognizes that “family” can mean many
things to different individuals in our society today. C-J reserves the right to define “family” on a case-by-case
basis, but generally we define it as children from the same biological parents
living in the same house. Methods
of Payment
C-J
offers the following four methods for paying tuition. Families must select a
method of payment at registration time. 1. Full payment,
due in mid-July 2. Quarterly
payments, due in July, October, January and April 3. Ten monthly
payments, July through April (finance entire amount) 4. Ten monthly
payments, July through April (down payment in July, finance the balance) Call us at 461-3740
